An entry at the Designboom/ MACEF competition, the “Mapuguaquén”, meaning “sound of the earth” by Chilean designer Pablo Ocqueteau is a speaker system that is made in clay on a traditional potter’s wheel. Based on the theme “the intelligent hand,” the speaker system looks like a piece of art. The crafty speakers following a conventional method of fabrication not only help in sustaining the environment, but also lend a helping hand to support the traditional art of pottery.
